Rusya, Polonya, Gürcistan ve Moldovya'yla olan ilişkileri gerginleşince bu ülkelerden taze sebze meyve ithalini zorlaştırmış, bu açığı Özbekistan'dan ithalata ağırlık vererek karşılamış. Rus talebinin artması doğal olarak Özbeklerin fiyatları yükseltmesiyle sonuçlanmış. Uzbekistan increases Export of Fruit and Vegetables
In 2006, Uzbekistan exported more than 694.000 metric tons of agricultural products worth $ 342 millions. In 2005 this was only about 660 000 metric tons. Russia remains the main importer of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan – Russia’s share in total imports of Uzbek agricultural products grew from 50% to 86%.
According to the Uzbek news agency - Press-uz.info, the country exported about 250K metric tons of vegetables (including melons) worth $ 83 million and 404K metric tons of fruits, worth $ 244 million in 2006. Furthermore, Uzbekistan exported about 32800 metric tons of processed fruits and vegetables, and about 7000 metric tons of wine during the same period.
According to most experts, the increase in the export of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan was mainly possible due to bans on the import into Russia of vegetables, fruits and berries from Poland, Moldova and Georgia.
As a result, Russia created favorable conditions for the delivery of fresh produce and processed products from Uzbekistan for its own market. Experts have pointed out that Uzbekistan has a very favorable climate for further growth in the production and export of vegetables and fruit, according to freshplaza.com (Netherlands).
